Research proposal

Research proposal

After a monster effort to collect my thoughts, catch up on reading scientific literature on coastal margin ecosystems, national and regional policy and international guidance on climate change and sea level-rise, I made my first attempt to fit my research into the bigger picture. I drafted and submitted my first milestone document, a research proposal, to my supervisors Dr Shane Orchard and Professor David Schiel from University of Canterbury and Chris Battershill from University of Waikato and to the Graduate School | Te Kura Tāura, describing what I was interested/thinking about doing.

It was received ok (ish, lots of work to be done yet!), but the main outcome being that I had reached the first marker (in the sea of research) and I had the green light to continue onto the next stage of my studies.

I could now start work in refining a research confirmation, including my study focus, methods, literature review and to submit my ethics application.
