Using assessment frameworks at case study sites to combine place-based knowledge with local ecological contexts and perspectives on future sea-level rise scenarios, this study will contribute towards:
- Raising the profile of coastal margin ecosystems and their natural role in mitigating climate change and sea-level rise impacts while supporting nature-based solutions in combating future environmental challenges;
- Improving communication, preparedness and adaptation to climate change and sea-level rise;
- Supporting management actions, informed by local context and values, that resonate profoundly with community values and motivates ongoing sustainable participation in resilience-building actions to protect locally significant ecosystems;
- Help refine assessment frameworks to incorporate local values, knowledge and coastal ecological context to national and international decision making.
